Smith & Associates have a wide range of flexible fee options.

Because of our commitment to equal access to justice, we try to keep our fees as low as possible, but there is no escaping that legal fees, especially when engaged in litigation, can be expensive because of the time commitment necessary to prepare such matters.

In relation to criminal law matters, we are usually able to quote a fixed fee unless the matter is unusually complex. In relation to family law and other matters, we charge an hourly rate.

We are aware of the significant financial commitment you are making in instructing us in relation to your matter, and we will tell you at the outset how much we estimate our fees will be to bring your matter to a resolution.

We offer a free 20 minute initial telephone consultation that allows us to determine whether or not you have a legal problem that we can help you with. If we can help you, we will schedule an appointment for you to meet with one of our solicitors who can take your detailed instructions and provide you with initial advice and explain the relevant legal processes to you.

We accept flexible payment terms, such as instalments or litigation funding. In most cases we require payment to be made to our trust account before provision of legal services.

We also accept legally aided clients. You should check out the Legal Aid Queensland website for more information.

If you believe that you qualify for aid, you can complete the Legal Aid Queensland application form. Deliver or post the completed form to our office with a copy of your relevant finanicial information (i.e. health care card, atm slip or bank statment, pay slips, etc.) and we will lodge the application on your behalf.
